Hi All,
This is a great place for info, very much appreciated.

On to my question. I need to determine if a NT4.0/2000 has MTS installed.
Is there a place in the registry I can look to determine if MTS transaction server is installed on the work station?

thanks

For Windows NT 4.0, MTS is not installed automatically. You have to choose to install it from the Option Pack. If you see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Transaction Server in the registry, then it has been installed. Hope this helps.

for Windows 2000 and above MTS has been replaced by Component Services and is an intergrated and required part of the operating system so it will always be there. For 95% of people out there its the same as MTS.

Thanks to all for your information.
I have found that if we check for the file mtx.exe in the system32 directory determines that MTS is installed.

The other alternative is to use the registry also.

Thanks
David.....
