mts error with craxdrt

I am using craxdrt.dll in an MTS package. Once every week or two, I get the following error in my event log, and a Dr. Watson error in MTX:

"The run-time environment has detected an inconsistency in its internal state and has terminated the process. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error. Error 800401FD from IViperThread::ReleaseProxyFromMta (Package: craxdrt) (Microsoft Transaction Server Internals Information: File: i:\viper\src\runtime\mtxex\vipthrd.cpp, Line: 529) "

A reboot (temporarily) solves the problem. I am using CR8.5, NT4 sp6a, IIS 4, and calling the report from asp.

Does anyone know what this means?

What type of firewalls are you using? Do you use PIX firewalls?

I don't know what type of firewall, but this is happening on an internal intranet application. This server is inside the dmz.

I'm having the same problem with the same server configuration. However my package is IIS-{WEBsite directory} not craxdrt. I have found that resetting the webservices (net stop iisadmin then net start w3svc to restart) revives Crystal. A reboot is not needed. Have you had any luck with a solution?

net stop/start does help in some cases, other times a reboot is needed. I just installed sp1 today. This has a new version of craxdrt.dll, but I don't know if it will solve the problem.
What is IViper?

IViperThread...It's used in the error message. I had never heard of it, but I liked it. So I'm using it for a handle. I have not been able to find any documentation on what it actually stands for.
