Help.

Just applied Win Server 2003 sp3 to our server and now the SQL Server database refuses to connect. The MSSQL Server service refuses to start citing a problem with logging on.
Exact msg

Error 1069 - (The service did not start due to a logon failure occurred while performing this service operation on the MSSQL Server service)

I have since uninstalled SP3 and we are now on SP2.

SQL Server 2000 itself does not have any service packs on it. Why has this happened and what can I do?

Any help readily and gratefully received

regards

Check the user \ password that you are using to start the SQLServer service.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

yep got it - just remembered that i'd changed it
thanks

If you don't have any service packs applied to SQL Server, you need to get them up to date. The SLAMMER Worm was/is a very nasty one affecting SQL Server. You are vulnerable to it unless you get caught up on Service Packs and patches.
