from the perspective of ASP programming, is there any real differences between MSSQL and mySQL that need to be addressed? I am going to be moving a site from a development server to a hosting service, and one i looked at uses unix and mySQL. I can't think of any reason why this should be a problem, but i just wanted to make sure.

Also, does anybody know of any decent hosts for pretty cheap?

Thanks

I am using GearHost - $25 per month. Plenty of disk space plus MS SQL and MySQL. ASP and ASP.NET supported as well. I have been pretty pleased with them since I switched to them in August.

My site - - has a link to them in the right hand menu towards the bottom.

if you're developing in asp/asp.net, you can't do it on unix (that is unless they have chilisoft installed). gotta be a winbox...

I've personally found stormhosts.net to be excellent, fast support response - that actually fix's stuff "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"

The place i was planning on using, does use Chilisoft, but decided not to because of something else. Thanks anyway guys...:)

my $0.02 on cihost - avoid. i left them to go to gearhost. maybe i had a bad experience, but that was my experience - BAD!

i've heard that before. i really haven't had a bad experience with them. have a couple of linux and windows accounts with them.
