Hello~
I just got a router and wireless usb network adapter..
I have ATT cable modem, and share the connection w/ another computer..
Anyways.. the problem is that.. i can receive files using msn messenger, however i can't not send files to people outside of my network... (i can only send to the computer which i'm sharing the connection with...)
what can i do to send out files to others??
..
is it because i'm using router which has firewall?
should i change the setting on my messenger??
plz help me..
thanks

I imagine it is because of a firewall working on your router. I dont think you will be able to solve this by modifying the setup of messenger.

You will need to modify the settings on your router & setup open ports, or similar, so that packets sent from your computer are allowed through, rather than being blocked. Have you checked the router log, because they normally log blocked packets?? James Goodman

This was a known problem with linksys cable routers that I was able to fix by updating the firmware on my 4 port router. Unfortuneately they didn't update the firmware on the 8 port so I have friends that are out of luck. If it is a Linksys router, send an email to Linksys support and they can give you a list of tcp and Udp ports to forward to allow the files through.
