Couldn't find this exact question anywhere, so I'm hoping someone can provide some insight. I've read that the MSI K8T800 motherboard can be "picky" about the brand of RAM chips accepted.

I already have a 1GB stick of Ultra PC3200 400 MHz DDR that I'd like to use, but I'm holding off buying the board until I can be sure that there won't be compatibility problems.

Does anyone have any experience with this board & RAM configuration? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, lwcomputing. I've purchased from Crucial in the past. Mostly I was hoping to minimize the amount of new hardware to buy, especially as I already had the 1GB stick.

"1GB stick of Ultra PC3200 400 MHz DDR" isn't really telling us much about the actual ram you have.
Look on the chips themselves to see the make and model ie: Winbound/Samsung etc and the actual chip number.

Once you have this information it should be possible to visit the motherboard manufacturers website, find the motherboard then look at theit recommended (supported) memory list (most manufacturers carry out tests)
This is not to say that it won't work, even if not on the list but you never know, yours may just be listed.
