I have a user Running Windows XP Professional with IE 6.0 SP1 and all the latest security updates to the browser.
The User has been experiencing Problems when acessing a certain website here we do business with all other websites these user accesses there is not a issue.
The Problem is that when the user logs into the website ( It is A secure website)they are able to browse the website and conduct business though the site but after 5-10 minutes of being in the website IE Kicks the user out of the website with the followiing Error Message.
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must close"
The file it is referencing as the problem is MSHTML.DLL Here is the information contained in the error message.
"APP Name: IEexplorer.exe APPVer:6.0.2600.0 ModNAme:MShtml.dll Modver:6.0.2800.1170
Offset: 000b4430"
I have done the following to try and solve the problem:
1. reinstall IE 6.0 and Update to SP1
2 Performed Windows updates to correct any corrupt files.
3.loosened up the security settings on IE.
4.Matched the settings from a known working machine and still the issues persist.
5. unistalled gator that was in his computer sonce a document I found said this could be causing the error message.
I did find a number of documents on Microsoft website and other forums concerning the MSHTML.dll and I have tried most of the solution listed in these documents and still We have the same error message.
I have not tried to install SP1 for windows XP Pro yet and I am kind of not sure I want to concerning some of the stories concernong SP1 it is not stable. has any one had luck with SP1?? I know SP1a is posted on MS Site what is the difference??
Please Provide me with some information concerninf SP1 for XP Pro and the IE 6.0 MSHTML.DLL error.
Thanks,
