When I try to go to Add/Remove Programs, I receive the above error. I searched Microsoft and ran the sfc /purgecache and sfc /scannow, but still receive the error. I need to uninstall some applications that are running on this Win 2K Pro machine. It had SP#4 on it as well.

Is there something else I can do other than re-installing ie I have other apps running on it that I don't want to lose?

Try running the following from the run box/command prompt and see if this helps resolve the issue:

regsvr32 appwiz.cpl

It could be something corrupt in the registry.
