I keep getting the message "MSGSRV32 caused general protection fault in module KRNL386.EXE" which requires me to reboot, then I get a Registry Problem message and I have to restart again!
Any theories on how to fix this please? As both are Windows system files, I hesitate to just delete them :)

Have you ran the system file checker? If not got to the run prompt type sfc.exe and run it see if it finds any corrupted files. If not and you have a Win98 Cd find it on the cd and copy over the one on your drive.
