MSFP making too many connections to server?

I have been designing with straight HTML for about a decade, but was trying to help a friend do some updates on his FP sites. (that was my first mistake :)

Since I know virtually nothing about FP, I decided to do some experiments, which during one transfer, I hit the cancel button realizing I almost published some test files to the wrong account.

The host's firewall locked my IP address out, and when I got support, I was told that my FP had made over 200 connections to the server and I had better adjust my settings or they will not give us further access!

I found nowhere in FP98 that addresses how many connections to make to the server.

Can anyone offer any assistance or guidance?

Several issues have come up with the latest version and/or patches for FP 2002 server extensions, particularly with regard to FP 98 client.

As far as adjusting FrontPage - I have no idea how one would do that and hesitate saying it can't be done - but I just don't think there is anyway that you can make any such adjustments. I would suggest that you ask their tech support just how one would make such adjustments in the FP client, I would also wonder if the "connections" they mention aren't part of the normal FP behaviour of connecting to the remote server and comparing files on the server to the files on the local copy. Perhaps each file FP was checking on the remote host was being logged as a "connection".

Let us know what they might respond. It can be really frustrating to deal with tech support folks that really don't understand FP!

Unfortunately, their support is not too interested in finding out 'what' the problem is. It seems they were very quick to simply say ... "get it together or we'll keep you locked out".

Hence, my quest for more information. Anyone have anything more on this item? What would cause MSFP to generate 200 connections to the server!?!
