Hi all,

I'm was working ona small project to test the connection to a database. I used a small form with the Msflexgrid on it to show the contents of a table. I then compiled and used the package and deployment tool to make an install package so I could sent it to a collegue. I was shocked to find out that the total size of the package was about 9 MB! It seems there is this file "Mdac_typ.exe" that makes up for about 8 MB of the package. My question is: is this file really necessary? And isn't there another way to use a flexgrid without having to deal with such a large filesize?

Thanx,

Sujesh

Ya Mdac_typ.exe is must for ur project setup
I cut some info for u about this from

It Make sure you are deploying the same file versions that you are using on your development machine. The wizards have a special folder where they look first for files to package. If found, a file is used from this source instead of the file your system is running.

For Visual Basic 6.0, it is especially important to make sure that you are deploying the proper version of Mdac_Typ.exe. The version of this file should match the Reference to "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.x Library" in your project. The default locations for this folder are as follows:

For Visual Basic 5.0:
C:\Program Files\DevStudio\VB\setupkit\kitfil32\sys32
For Visual Basic 6.0:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\Redist
