MSDE and IIS 6.0 on same box

I'm putting together a "light" application server box. It's configured with duel 1 GHz processors, 512 MB RAM, and about 50 GB RAID (mirrored) drives with Windows 2003 Enterprize edition.

My questions is, has anyone here tried to run MSDE and IIS 6.0 on the same box? If so, what are the performance considerations?

Any insight would be helpful.

It shouldn't be any problem.

Some things to keep in mind, are that SQL (including MSDE) will use as much ram as it thinks it needs to, which is usually all the memory. You will want to be sure to set the sql server to leave enough memory for IIS.

Between the ESP=ON and the RUM (Read Users Mind) upgrade, I'm ready to go.

Thanks Denny. I'll keep an eye out on the mem usage and try to adjust accordingly. This is going to be the application box for my small to mid sized workgroup apps, so I don't imaging the data requirements are going to be very demanding.

Thanks for the feedback.

512 MB of RAM may not be anywhere enough. Not only will MSDE use lots of memory, so will IIS. I would give lots of thought to at least doubling the amount of RAM. I have an IIS server with 2 processors and 512 MB of RAM and the cpu's are constantly hitting near 100% (I'm sure most of this is due to the fact that we recieve very large tiff files (with as many as 300+ pages per file!!!)
