HI All,

I am trying to set up a linked server but when i try to test the connection i get the following:

OLE DB provider 'MSDAORA' cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

I have looked in the registry and can see an MSDAORA entry which is set to 1 so what i can't figure out is why its is not available in the providers list.

server is windows server 2008 (64 bit) with sql server 2008 sp1 installed.

any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

That's an Oracle driver isn't it? It requires having the normal Oracle drivers installed to work.

thanks for the reply mr denny. it is the oracle driver but i think its installed with sql server and can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB.

i will look on the forums a bit more.

The base part is installed, but you still need the traditional Oracle driver installed and you still need to configure tnsnames.ora for it to work.
