Hi

I am having trouble adding another LUN to an existing SQL Server 2005 cluster. The LUN has been created on an HP EVA4400 and presented to two SQL 2005 Servers.

The new LUN has been recognized in the Disk Management, formatted and given a drive letter on the primary node

In Cluster Administrator, I have completed the following procedure:

Under Group
Right click SQL Group
New
Resource
Resource Type Physical Disk
Group SQL Group
Dependencies None
Adding the new LUN

It comes online and the new LUN is recognized in Disk Management on the passive node with the same disk number as the active but unknown and unreadable

Unfortunately, I am unable to test by manually moving the group The first time I tried this the new LUN would not “fail” over to the other node and Cluster Administrator reported that it “failed”

Is this the correct procedure and/or is there anything that I need to do in SQL Server 2005?

Many thanks

You don't need to do anything in SQL to make it show up. I would move it into its own resource group until you can ensure that it'll fail back and forth correctly.

Then you can move it into the SQL Resource group, and make the SQL Server dependent on the new disk. If the SQL Server resource isn't dependent on the new disk the SQL Server won't let you create databases on it.
