Details: There seems to be no description about the file mscmtsrvc.exe. The msCMTSrvc.exe application tries to contact the node "rdrstore.compaq.com" at IP 161.114.19.93.


NOTE: Tracert 161.114.19.93 also indicates that the node is "rdrstore.compaq.com"


Though this application can be disabled in startup to eliminate this error, more information is needed such as:


- What software/service is this file associated with?


Any information regarding this application (msCMTSrvc) is appreciated

I assume you have a Compaq computer? I do, and the file is on mine. I think the program tries to retrieve advertising from the Compaq website.

Perhaps msCMTsrvc is 'actively working' only when you push one of the special keyboard buttons, or click that Hot Deals icon.

Here is text copied from Compaq's webite in regards to the file msCMTSrvc.exe:

An error may occur stating that "msCMTSrvc.exe is attempting to access the internet" when the computer is connected to the Internet. msCMTSrvc.exe is an application that was installed on the computer by Compaq called the Content Monitoring Tool Service (CMTS). The Compaq Offer Zone, displayed on the desktop as the Hot Deals icon, uses the CMTS to update the computer when new merchandise is available for purchase by the user.

Is it running as a service? If so, simply turn it off if you're not using it. Services are located in control panel.. admin tools..
