Hi!
Does anyone know if you need to manually include msado15.dll in a setup package for a Word2000 Add-In? I reference it in my add-in project however, the Package and Deployment Wizard did not bring that file (or the fm20.dll or msaddndr.tlb files) into the package. Are these files automatically installed on an end-user's PC if they have Office2000 or do I have to explicitly install them?

I am not 100% sure about the msado15.dll and Office 2000, you may need to look at any issues regarding distribution of Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC). I don't believe it is a simple matter of adding it to your setup or even just installing that one file to a target machine. MDAC affects quite a few system files.

The following article makes mention of fm20.dll as a licensed file (As not to be re-distributed). Target machines that have MS Office should already have the file.

good luck

Thanks for the info! I was unaware of the licensing issues involved. I decided not to add any additional files ( including msado15.dll) and all of my test installs worked fine. I did include MDAC_EXE on the installation CD but in a separate folder...just in case.
B-)
