MSAccess.exe has generated an error

I have an end-user who would like to know EXACTLY what the error message "MSAccess.exe has generated an error. Check the error log..." means. I have searched Microsoft, here, and 3 other sites looking for a definition. My understanding was that this was a "generic" error message and really just gave me a heads-up that something was wrong and I needed to investigate and/or complete a repair & compact as a first/best attempt to address. However, it seems I need a "clearer" definition if anyone has one. Any and all input greatly appreciated.
