HI, When I add colorful borders to a document, though the print preview appears correct, they print incorrectly. This is happen on most of printers I am using. Is this a common problem or else?
Almost all printers have a built-in border of at least 1/4" and ink-jet printers are usually at 1/2". If your borderis withing these areas, you'll see them in print preview but they won't print on the paper. To be safe, make sure your border is at least 1/2" in from each page edge - top & bottom.
There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
From Word help:
A part of the page border is not printing.
Check your border margins You might have positioned your border too close to the edge of a page. Most printers cannot print to the edge of a page — especially to the bottom of the page. The minimum amount of space needed between the margin and the edge of the page varies by printer. To adjust the page border margin, click Borders and Shading (Format menu), click the Page Border tab, and then click Options. Under Margin, adjust the settings you want.
Check the distance between the page border and the text The distance between the page border and the text might place the border outside the page margin width. To adjust the distance, click Borders and Shading (Format menu), click the Page Border tab, and then click Options. Click Text under Measure from. Under Margin, adjust the settings you want.
I have a similar but different problem -- I also try to use a graphic border (i.e., 'art'), and it gets truncated at the bottom, but it also appears in the print preview. I have not found any way to repair this. Whatever has changed (either by me or 'systemically') has also affected the other documents on this machine -- documents that were previously correct. I have emailed these documents to others and the problem persists on different machines.
If I open a new document and put a page border (again, using 'art') and look at it in the print preview window, it appears truncated.
