Pardon me for being dumb. I've searched and found a number of threads with people asking the same question but I can't seem to get it functioning.

I have a formfield that I would like to have the value carried to other locations automatically.

I've set it to calculate on exit.
My bookmark value: SBL

I go down to the cell I would like to have it match the value automatically.

Hit CTRL+F9 and type in SBL. Hit F9 again and my field area goes a way.

If I try and do the properties aspect of it.
Set to calculation
and my reference is set to SBL.
Close out.
It gives me a 0 and does not update when I enter a value into the field.

What in the world am I doing wrong?

What application? It sounds like it is Word, but whenever people use "cell" I can not be sure.

"Close out.

I am not sure i know what you mean by "Close out."

I am not sure what you mean, or are talking about when you say "It gives me a 0".

What "it"?

What kind of formfield?

MS Word 2k3 (says it in the title). The document has a table in it, so I was referring to a cell in my table.

Close out meaning click ok on the box.

That is what gets displayed, a 0.

Not sure what you mean by kind.

Try entering REF SBL inside the braces
Yea, I did that as well and it didn't work.

I've added a link to this for the file so you can see what I'm trying to do.

In the top right hand corner is a section for SBL. I would like that value duplicated about 3/4 way down where you will see S/B/L. (right under that)

I've set it to calculate on exit.
My bookmark value: SBL"

1. the formfield at the top right (beside S/B/L) is named "Text3"...not SBL as you state. Therefore any REF SBL will not work...why would it?

2. it does NOT have Calculate on exit checked, as you state it does.

The places you seem to want the information duplicated are formfields. This is not needed.

1. I changed the formfield (beside S/B/L) bookmark name to "SBL".

2. I checked Calculate on exit.

3. I deleted the formfields where you want it duplicated.

E.g. Saratoga
City & County Tax Bill
S/B/L
formfield

4. I replaced each of the four the deleted formfields with a field:

Press Ctrl-F9
type "SBL"

then move the cursor away - there is no need to do anything else.

It works perfectly. Whatever is entered in the SBL (actually named that with Calculate on exit) is duplicated.

The document I posted to the web wasn't the most current, I understand the one posted doesn't have the correct label. It was just a copy of one of them.

That's exactly what I did and I'll attach a screenshot to show you what I got for some reason..

Hi,

First, FYI you misspelled "Springs" at the top left. Used to live in Albany so familiar with the area.

Here's how I've done it:

*Create your Bookmark on the field.
*Name it 'whatever'.
*Select the field where you want the data repeated.
*Insert menu/Field.
*Select REF.
*Select your Bookmark from the list.
*Here's the tricky part - you wont' see the changes until you open and then close Print Preview. Weird huh?

Hope this helps! Let us know if it works for you!

Best,

According to the screenshot, the cell beside S/B/L (at top right) no longer HAS a formfield. So I do not know how you can say it is "SBL".

cornick,

Help us to help you. If you describe one thing and post another, there isn't much any of us can do. You say things don't work but you give the impression you haven't actually done them.

If you'd care to try again and post the actual results of what you've done, perhaps we can see what you've missed. Till then, I, and I suspect the others, can't help much more.

Enjoy,
Tony
