Hi,

I have a problem using Word 2003 at work. When a file is saved on the network, typing is very slow (I can type 5-50 letters before the text starts appearing on screen). The same file saved directly on my computer will not create any difficulties. It happens even with a new entirely blank file.

I am running word 2003 SP2 on windows XP. I have already tried uninstall/reinstall and I did all updates available on microsoft website.

The problem is not consistent : some of my co-workers have the same problem, some don't and some have it when using Excel as well. We all have fairly recent and good computer that work very well, so equipment should not be a problem. The tech guy is clueless.

Anyone can help?

Thanks!

My first thing to try would be to save a new rtf file on the network and then edit this file from the network using wordpad. Really just to prove that this isn't a networking issue. (It probably isn't, but check the most obvious thing first!)

The question should be [red]Is it worth trying to do?[/red] not [blue] Can it be done?[/blue]

For the benefit of anyone reading this post, I found the solution : uninstalling "Autodesk Vault" solved the problem.

There might be a patch available somewhere from autodesk but I did not have time to look for it and simply uninstalled the whole thing as we were not using it anyways.

Thanks.
