MS Word 2003 scanning for virus

Greetings,

I have a user that is having issues w/ Word 2003. Whenever she opens a Word document, in the bottom left corner of the document it says "running virus scan". The larger the document, the longer the scan runs.

We are running the Norton Symantec Antivirus - 10.0.1 Windows and I can't seem to find an option in that or WORD to shut this function off.

Can someone help???

norton antivirus has a tick box in its options that scans office applications on open - untick it to stop it happening.
