MS word 2003 edit picture / crash

hello, i am using MS Word 2003 i have a text doc that is only 3 pages long and on the 2nd page it has a picture. when i right click on the pic and go to edit picture word takes about 10 sec to do anything jumps down to page 3 and goes not responding. have to end task on word for it to go away. this happens on many computers and the doc does not matter. this started happening about a week ago. at first we used off 2k and that would just come up with winword.exe has errored and is going to close.

Try deleting the picture then reinserting it. You may try to save it in an alternative format like a *.jpg file before reinserting as well.

Have you tried teh Open and Repair option in Word 2003?

i have tried verything. the file that word is using is a scrap image file. i cant seem to get this file to open up in anything other than word i also can not change the file type. i do have a work around of copy and pasting the "scrap" image file into a new word doc editing and copying back but it seems to take forever to copy and paste. also i find odd that the doc file is say 500k but when you pull the scrap file out and just save it the scrap file can very in size from 3meg to 15meg. just for the image and the word doc stays about the same size.
