System specs:
- Windows XP Home Edition, SP2
- Intel Celeron 1.70GHz
- 768 MB RAM
- Mobo: SiS-650GL
- BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG
- Video card: Radeon 7000 / Radeon VE [Display adapter]
- Monitor: ViewSonic A91f+
System Status: Clean
- No viruses, trojans, spyware, adware nor malware of any kind.
Issue:
I have the Microsoft Office 2000 Suite, Premium Edition. When using Word it randomly decides to do this: click here to see screenshot. What you see in the screenshot is exactly what happens.
When it happens, it's not only Word that is affected, it makes all windows like that, even the desktop with no windows open. It's as if the monitor itself has been screwed up. But it only happens when I'm using Word. Please keep that in mind, and I can't stress it enough. ONLY if I'm using Word does it happen. At no other time does it happen with any other program, no matter how many or how few are open. No matter what I'm doing, it only happens with Word. Oh, did I mention that it only happens when I'm using Word?
This also happened to me a couple years ago, on a different computer with less RAM, cheaper hardware, etc. It was suggested that the video card might be at fault, but changing the video card did not help. The problem only went away when I got a new computer, and I never saw the problem again for a long time. But now it started happening again.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this, and how to fix it? The only way to restore everything is a reboot, which gets very annoying very quickly.
TIA,
CellarDweller
