I recently got a new computer with a MS Wireless Desktop and the scroll wheel on my mouse doesn't work. I have a Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0A, Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A, Wireless Optical Desktop Receiver 3.0A and I have installed IntelliPoint 5.0 and IntelliType 5.2 on Windows XP Pro SP2 + all updates. I've tried it both with USB and the PS/2 adapter. I took my old MS wired optical mouse and the scroll wheel works fine.

Start in Safe mode, and remove all old mouselistings in Device Manager.
If no luck ,then uninstall and reinstall the mouse drivers.
If no luck, then try it on another system.
If it does not work there, then it's probably defective.

Thanks for your response, I'm going to try that, but I'm almost certain that it's defective. I got ahold of another MS Wireless Mouse (different type) and connected it to the same Receiver, and the scroll wheel worked like a charm.

Sounds simplistic, but the mouse and wireless sender have switchable channel A and B. Did you check that the mouse you borrowed, and your mouse are set the same?

micker,
If the mouse works ok and only scroll wheel is not functioning as stated by vectorgod, then the A/B selection should be the same on the mouse and receiver. Otherwise, the mouse would not work at all.

By coincidence I configured (lol) fitted one of these last night "Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0A" and wireless multimedia keyboard.
I installed the intellipoint 5.2 and intellitype 5.2 software as well but note*

The scroll function was fully working before I installed any software at all (XPpro SP2 all updates) infact both keyboard and mouse worked straight away, i didn't even have to set frequency although the some of the extra key functions only worked after intellitype was installed.

My scroller worked neither before, nor after I installed intellipoint, and after trying everything I can think of it's time to send it back and get one that works... maybe logitech

buy from newegg, they rock and they're awesome about replacing stuff
