Hello all, i am not sure if i am in right forum. But i try:

I am facing strange problem:
in our company we have ms windows 2000 active directory deployed. When i open "My network places" -> "entire network" -> "Microsoft windows network" ... i can see workgroup another then our workgroup. Could you please try to explain to me ... how can i "add" new workgroup to this list of workgroups? ... I am trying to find out .. what can happend when that strange workgroups appear in list.

Thank you very much
Tomas

Odds are you have a machine out there that's not part of the domain and reporting itself as "WORKGROUP" (the default). If you drill down do you see the name of the machine associated with this workgroup.

Hi, no i cant open this workgroups ... neither as domain administrator.

bacilko1,
either one of your machines that's not part of the domain or if you use wireless routers at all it's picking up desktops or laptops that are near by and have a wireless card / are on another network.
regards,
longhair

[google bacilko1]Hi, no i cant open this workgroups ... neither as domain administrator.[/google] That's because workgroups aren't part of your domain - hence, you have no access to them.

As mentioned in previous replies, you likely have a machine(s) that's in a different workgroup or domain. This could be the case with a vendor laptop.

Hi all, now i understand thank you ... but another one question ... is it any possibility to find what ip or what pc is out of our domain. Can i locate this "black sheeps" ?

Many thanks
Tomas

Odds are this device is on your local network. If you check your DHCP console it will show you all IP addresses that have been assigned. From there you should be able to identify a PC that doesn't follow your naming standards and the IP assigned.
Hope this helps.
