MS RMS Store Operations for Single Store solution ?

I am considering MS RMS (Store Operations) for a single store/single lane solution for a small health/nutrition store which will also host an E-commerce online store.

What additional software will be required for a single store setup such as this? I understand that MS RMS Store Operations comes with MSDE so there is no need for SQL Server or other BackOffice products ... Is this correct? What additional software will be required for the E-commerce site(hosted on separate server) for this client in addition to ‘Store Operations’?

Would the purchase of MS RMS Store Operations completely cover this setup or will other software required?

Hi Cyberthug,

To answer a few of your questions,

RMS does come with Microsoft’s SQL desktop engine, that will be fine for a single lane shop.

As far as using it as an E-Commerce solution, you will need to purchase additional software. Microsoft has not yet developed this functionality but partners like myself have developed add-ons for this and other things where RMS is lacking or for industry specific applications.

Cost will depend on who you buy from and how you’re going to set it up.

- this is a listing of some of the customizations that partner have developed for this software. Check back to this site early next week, should be updated and may have another vendor for an e-commerce application.

If your going to use one of these add-ons make sure whoever installs this has done at least 5 other implementations of RMS. There are lots of new partners who I would not trust with an E-commerce integration level install, make sure yours has some experience.

Also, I would think that a dedicated server would be required for this e-commerce application. I would recommend a Dell power edge 700 (around $750- $2500) with RAID and XP pro or 2003 server would make a great RMS/web server for a small business.
