I am having trouble installing the MS Remove Hidden Data add-in tool across around 8000 pc's.

There are around 12 or so different builds, but even within identical hardware/image machines (allegedly), I am getting inconsistent results - sometimes the tool installs itself correctly into Word, Excel and PowerPoint on first reboot, but on others, it can take several reboots, and then sometimes still not installed properly (e.g. Excel only).

Anyone any ideas?

Hi MMJJLL,

Does other software install OK on these PCs?

Do you have the right version of the Windows Installer (I'm not sure if you need this)?

Are you sure the various builds have the right O/S & software versions?

Supported O/Ses are: Windows XP SP1 or later, Windows 2000 SP4 or later and Windows Server 2003

The tool also only works with:
• MS Office Word, Excel & PowerPoint 2003
• MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint 2002, SP2 or later

Also, are you sure the installation's failing, and not it's just that the tool won't run? You may need to adjust the macro security settings:
. Click Tools|Options|Security|Macro Security|Macro Security|Trusted Publishers, then select the 'Trust all installed add-ins and templates' check box and click 'OK' twice.
In Office 2003, you can't run the tool on IRM-protected documents unless you are the document's owner or you've been given "Change" permission with the option to "Access content programmatically".

Cheers

Thanks for this - I have passed it over to our support team - basically, software deploys fine usually - its just this add-in causing the problem. Settings look as you indicate, and awe are not working with IRM. We'll look further.
