I have inherited a reporting suite and several reports use an external query to import data from Access into Excel.

There seems to be no problem, it brings the data in ok on refresh, however when I try to edit the query (just to see exactly where it's coming from) I get an error message:

"[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]String data, right truncated on column number 1 (TABLE_CAT)"

I DON'T have any ODBC sources set up on my PC, is this why?

probably - yes, although you shouldn't need a seperate driver for querying an Access database

Do you know any VBA ?? if so, you can query the properties of the QueryTable..

Rgds, Geoff

Three things are certain. Death, taxes and lost data. DPlank is to blame
