MS Query Minimizes but Can't Work With It

Hi

I am using Excel 2003 and trying to use MS Query to perform a "new database query" but whenever I do this and get to the part about choosing a data source and then the actual Access Query, MS Query minimizes to the toolbar and I can't do anything with it.

If I try to select Data, New Database Query again I get a message that "microsoft query is busy editing another query for Microsoft Office Excel." but I can't toggle back to actually see the query...what is going on?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have never observed this.

FIRST, toggle the Auto Query button to be [red]OFF!!![/red] ONLY use the Query Now button when you want to run a query.

Can you see your Access query listed in the Add Tables Window?

Hi

Sometimes it turns off before I get to the part about being able to see the Access table I want to select.

I checked that Access is part of the ODBC data connections and it is so not sure why this is happening. Note that I have two computers and the one with Excel and Access 2002 has MS Query working fine but the one running Access and Excel 2003 is the one with problems. Having said that the other computer also has 2002 and it won't work in it.

To stop MS Query I have to cancel out of it using Windows Task Manager.

I just found a post outside Tek Tips indicating that a user had difficulties with MSQuery when there were two versions of Excel loaded on the computer. Removing one of the versions solved the problem so I suspect that might be the issue here.
