ms publisher and ie8 1

Hi,

A client has asked me to look at a site he built with Publisher.

It's not bad for an amateur and it works fine in all browsers except ie8.

In that the nav panel on the left disappears!!?

I've had a look and can't make sense of the code to be honest.It's something weird and wonderful created by Publisher - not the way I'd do it with html and css (the way I know it anyway ).

If anyone can have a look and see if they can identify what the problem is I'd be grateful.

There are known issues - and they could have been avoided if the client had used a web design program instead of a a desktop publing program.
