Hi,

Does anyone know of a good way to roll up / filter levels of MSP plans without showing all the parent tasks please?

We have 3 levels of plans (all separate MSP plans) - level 3 with the most detailed information. The level 1 plan is for the Programme Mgt audience.

The Prog Mgt want to see a rolled up plan (from levels 2 and 3) in MS Project, but without all the preceeding parent tasks.
For example in the level 3 plan a task called 'Sign Off Requirments' sits beneath the overall top-level parent task of 'Savings' in the Task Name field. There are 5 linked preceeding sub-header tasks in-between 'Savings' and 'Sign Off Requirments' (all indented) and so the 'Sign Off Requirments' task is significantly indented in the 'Task Name' field (6 indents in).

Prog Mgt want to see the 'Sign Off Requirments' task in the level 1 plan, but without the 5 linked (sub header) preceeding tasks.

What I am looking for is a relatively straightforward way to roll up the data to present in the level 1 plan so that the task 'Sign Off Requriements' appears under 'Savings' but is only idented once directly beneath 'Savings' without all the other preceeding linked tasks showing. At the moment if I filter to show only 'Sign Off Requriements' under Savings in the level 3 plan, all the preceeding (sub-header) tasks still show.

Any help on this would be very much appreciated!!

Many thanks.

Hi,
If I understand you correctly, you want to show some of the summary tasks but not all? If you want to hide all summary tasks - edit the filter and remove the "show related summary task option." If you want to show some selected summaries but not all - use one of the flag fields - set to "yes" for the tasks you wish to see and create a new filter. Again - you'll need to edit the filter to remove the "show related summary task" option.
