I have a project file I use on daily basis. The file size seems to grow increasingly with use. It is has grown now to over 100 meg. I've tried the save as solution, the save file as MPD then back to MPP to no avail. Anybody have any other ideas?

How many tasks? How many resources? How many month's duration?

You didn't say which version but P2000+ allows for multiple baselines and this can have an impact.

The file also grows when you start actively tracking work and %WorkComplete.

Another place to look (it doesn't "grow" from version to version but it can have a once-off impact) is in your header and footer ... if you have bit maps they can chew up a significant bit of space when they are added.

Another "one-off" possibility is the addition of macro code or forms.

I've heard anecdotes that in order for the SaveAsMPD type of processing that you need to save, exit from Project, start Project, open the MPD file, SaveAsMPP to get it to fully work. (I've never tried exiting vs. non-exiting to see if there is a difference.)

The project has 226 tasks including summary tasks. There are a total of 11 resources with only 1 being used at the present time. Project duration time is 12 months. We are using project standard 2003. There are 3 baselines being used. Also, we have added 5 tables and 10 views.
Thanks for your help and response.

The tables and views shouldn't have much impact (they are basically just formatting of the underlying data when it's being displayed.

I just took a 500 task project, 26 resources, year-long schedule, added 3 baselines to it (as well as a couple of interim plans) and barely get to 3MB.

You might want to send me a sanitized version of the plan so I can take a look.

View | Gantt Chart, display the ID column and then copy it and paste it over the Task column

View | Resource Sheet, display the ID column and then copy it and paste it over the Name column

File | Properties and clean up anything there.

Send it to PDQBach4100 at H0T MA1L and I'll take a look at it.
