Hello, I am trying to add a new task to an existing schedule that already has a baseline, and I like the new task to add the duration of the project baseline duration.
for example: I have a construction schedule, and we have a delay in the project due to weather or unforeseen conditions, the existing base line is tied to a contract and if we are late there are penalties.
But, an unforeseen condition is approved and so, we are allowed to extend the schedule by 10 days so the baseline should be extended and that way it doesn't show remaining tasks as being late.
The way I like it done/presented is by splitting the delayed task into two tasks (1 task 10days to 2 tasks 2days and 8 days for example) and plug-in a new task in between with the delay duration and thus add the delay duration to the baseline sum, see screenshot example of before and after.
In this example I have 3 tasks with 10 days each, assuming task 2 is delayed, I split it in 2 (task 2 for 2 days and Task 2 Continued for 8 days) and added a 3rd task in between with 10 days delay (highlighted in red).
Now, since this is an "approved" delay, I like it to extend the baseline duration sum (highlighted in red) from 4/1/25 to 4/15/25 so remaining of project will be considered on schedule.
Is this possible doing it this way?
