Hi,

in MS Project 2000, I've added a periodic task,
e.g.
- name: DoHouseWashing
- duration: 1 day
- every week at Monday
- starts March, 18th
- until end of 2002

In the Gantt Chart, I can see the duration column
displayed, and it shows the total duration until
completition (286 days).

Question: I'd like to display only the amount of days,
that I actually plan to work on this task (in my case
42 days). How can I achieve this?

Thanx in advance & best regards,
Volker Kopetzky

I have a similar problem that I've come across today on MS Project 98. I am trying to input a task that will take 10 working days but I can only carry out the work at weekends. By setting up the calendar for the resource, I can make the overall work take the correct number of weeks, but the bar on the GANTT chart looks as though the task will take 5 weeks of continuous working, including weekdays. Is there any way I can get this to show as a split task with only a bar at the weekends?

I am in the process of trying to work out the answer, however, the information you want to see is available within project(Proj 2k). You can view it if you click on the recurring task, right click, and bring up the recurring task information. The field called "number of occurences" is the information you want. It should be possible to access this information and display it in place of the calendar duration for those tasks that are recurring. P2k has a pretty good custom field feature that (along with VBA) should enable you to do it. If I figure it out I'll respond back.
