Hi all,

I am working on a project in which the scale per day is in hours. Each day is considered 8 hours (8 am - noon // 1 pm - 5 pm) M - F. This works well for over 95% of the tasks however, a few tasks need to run 48 hrs. continually. This means that there are no stops what so ever (7/16/13 - 7/18/13). Does anyone know how to create a selected test like this instead of 6, 8 hour days?

Thanks,

Mike

The 48 hr tasks probably need to be handled as Fixed Duration. And you can vary the timescale within the project tasks. That is, you can have a 1 hr meeting as well as tasks lasting 3 days.

Thanks. I actually resolved it.

Here is what I did.

1) Add task to Gantt Chart
2) Go into the Resource Sheet
3) Add resource as Work
4) Double click on the resource
- The Resource Information screen will load
5) Click on the Change Working Time Button
6) Using the Base Calendar pull down menu, select 24 hours
7) Press Ok
8) Press Ok
9) On the Resources that you added, Change the Base Calendar pull down menu to 24 hours
10) Add the resource to your task

Note: If your project is in another scale than what the resource time is allocated for, you may see that the total time may not be correct. One example of this is if you have a task that is 24 hours long and you are using a Standard Calendar for the project. When MS Project calculates the 24 hours, it will only show the time that is within the standard work day. In the date start and end, these will indicate the actual 24 hour time frame. Remember that Lunch is subtracted from the work day too.

yes, you can have multiple working calendars as well.
