MS Project 2007 Manufacturing Build Time

Hi All,
I am trying to create a MS Project 2007 template to use to calculate manufacturing build times based on cycle time/part/process and total units to build. Ideally, I would like to input to number of units to build and have Project calculate all the durations based on a cycle time/part for each particular task. Can the "Duration" field be calculated based on values in custom fields? If so, how?
