MS Project 2000 Can't change start and finish date for task

I can't seem to change the start and finish date of a task. The date fields are grayed out. Can someone help, please.

How are you trying to change them ?

Have you saved the project with a baseline ?

You are probably trying to change the dates of a summary task. These tasks get their start date from the earliest start date of their sub-tasks and the finish date from the latest finish date of their sub-tasks.
