I was wondering which study books you guys recommend? MS Press or Sybex? I am currently a W2k-MCP, fixing to take the W2k-MCSA exam. Then off to finsh with the MCSE.
In most cases, I agree with mrdenny. The Microsoft Press books should prepare you for the exams better than books from a third party.
Keep in mind that the Microsoft Press books are written by subject matter experts, not the people who write the test questions, and in some cases the Microsoft Press books are not very well written.
If you have questions about a specific exam, I'm sure that plenty of people will voice their opinions
I certainly would start by reading the Microsoft-books.
If there are topics you would like to know more about, it would be useful to read the Sybex-chapter in that case.
My brain likes the Sybex approach over Microsoft (and Cisco). Try both, make you own decision. Look in 1/2 priced book stores, and amazon.com. You can probably find both for the price of one new copy.
if you have friends doing this at the same time why not club together and buy as many of them as you can afford? I also enjoy the examcram books to read 1st, then go over the details and lab exercises in mspress, and then read the sybex... I have found this to work well with sufficient tinkering... but by all means get your hands on a keyboard and mouse through all of this if you can...
Setnaffa is an MCSA-2k3 (working on MCSE-2k3) with a few other certs, too...
