Hi,

I have created a view and assigned a filter to it. The filter is very simple and designed to only show selected milestones, using a Flag column to show rows where the Flag value = Yes (i.e. is a selected milestone). Normal Tasks / other milestones should be hidden (Flag = No).

However when I apply this filter, rows with Normal Tasks (i.e. not selected milestones) that do not meet the criteria (i.e. Flag = No) still show in the Task Name column . Instead, the 'selected milestone' rows show as blue (Flag = Yes), and the Normal Task rows that should be filtered out still show but are in black.

I have 'hidden' the Normal Tasks in the gantt chart view using the 'Format Bar Styles' and removed them from the Bar Styles list (e.g. removed Normal Task types etc), however becuase they still show in the Task Name column, there are large gaps showing in the gantt chart view.

I have tried removing all summary rows so that all items are on the same outline level (i.e. no indentation) and also tried it with other Yes/No colums such as Milestone, but the Normal Task rows still show. I have tried switching off 'Highlighting' but this also does not change anything.

I have also checked to see if any of the Normal Task rows that should be filtered out have depedencies and most do not.

Can anybody suggest why these rows may not be filtering out please, as I want them to be completely hidden from the Task Name column so that there are not large gaps showing in the gantt chart view (where the Normal Tasks would show had I not hidden them using the Bar Styles formatting).

Help Please!

It sounds as though you are using a Highlight filter - not a regular filter. Let's start back at the beginning - what version of Project - 2007? 2010? 2013? Please open the filter definition and tell us what the definition says.

Julie

Hi

It is MS Project 2007. The filter definition has the following:

Field Name (the flag column)
Test = Equals
Value = Yes

'Show related summary rows' is not ticked.

Is this a consolidated project file with multiple inserted projects? Is it a file you can email to me? Do you have SP3 installed to Project 2007?

Hi,

No it is not a consolidated file nor does it have any dynamic links with other project files. I don't think SP3 is installed, all that is listed in the 'About Microsift Project' section is:

Microsoft Project 2007 (12.0.6211.1000) MSO (12.0.4518.1014) - not sure if this helps??

Unfortunately I cannnot send you the file as it has sensitive info in.

Hi Julie,

Really sorry - I have been an idiot! I have just found that even though I thought I had switched the Highlight Filter off via 'Filters' I had left it ticked in the View Definition! I have removed that now and it works as it should.

Sorry to waste your time and thank you for your help!

Glad to know you've found the source of the issue. You really need to update Project - it is up to SP-3 and from the information you've provided it doesn't look like any service packs have been installed.
