Hello

Is there a tool to export Outlook express mail to Notes mail? If there is, please would you guide me to the URL of where I cab get it.

Thanks

Jason,

Since you didn't mention the version, I'll assume it's R6. You'll need to install the Domino Administrator and be sure to use the custom setup option. Expand the Migration tools section and select Outlook Express Miagration. Once the Notes client has completed setup, yuou'll need to run the nupgrade.exe file from the Notes executable directory. Basic documumentation on the process is at:

I've used this tool in the past to migrate from Outlook/Exchange and cc:Mail and it works pretty well. But I've never tried it with Outlook Express.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Hi SkipperB

The version of Notes that we use is R5. As fas as I have checked, the users that we want to migrate, all their MS Outlook mail is on thier local hard drives (some being notebooks and desktops). Will your idea still work?

Regards

Jason,

As a matter of fact, that's exactly what DUS (Domino Upgrade Services) was designed for. You'd use nupgrade but with the 3 option. There's some excellent documentation in an IBM Redbook here:

I assume all of the Outlook mail is contained in PST files. Check out Chapter 8 for more information.

I've completed several xChange to Notes/Domino migrations and if you need any more help, just let me know.

Hi SkipperB

I am sorry to give you the run around. These users have *.dbx files (Outlook express) on their respective desktops and notebooks. Would your URL to redbooks have an answer for my problem?

Jason

Jason,

Not a problem. I've been involved with migrations from Exchange, Novell Groupwise and Lotus cc:Mail, but I don't have any experience with migrating from Outlook Express. I don't even have it on my PC!!

You can export the current Outlook Express email to a personal folder and then use nupgrade with the Outlook Express option and see what happens. Or you can take a look at the CMT for Notes tool at:
Are the current users receiving there mail from an Exchange server or are they getting it from a POP3/SMTP server? How many users are you migrating?

Let me know,

SkipperB

These users are getting their mail from a POP3/SMTP server from an ISP. They have a standalone server, which dials up 6 times a day to the ISP to retrieve mail. The users then connect to the standalone to retrieve mail to their desktops\notebooks. At the moment the staff compliment who do have email access is 15.
