I have MS Outlook Express 5.0 on an existing PC. The Outlook client has about 65 folders holding about 4500 email messages.

I purchased a new computer and installed Outlook Express 5.0 on the new system . It works fine, but I don't know how to move my message folders from the old PC to the new one. I tried just copying over, but no-go. I tried exporting, but the IMPORT function on Outlook Express doesn't have an entry for OE5.0. My old Outlook 5.0 works well, but I'd just like to move everything over.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My first question would be how to you have these 2 computers connected?? With as many folders and messages as you've mentioned, you are in for quite a few Mbs of data. Personally, my sent items file is 59M!

Anyway...the easiest way is to directly connect the pcs with network cards. If that's not an option, go for direct cable connect. Next, map a drive on your new system to the old one. (I assume you know how to do this. If not, let me know and I'll expand on it)

I do have an OE5.0 option under File->import->messages. The wizard should walk you through everything. Select whichever identity your messages are in. The wizard may not be able to find the necessary files on your remote computer. If not, locate files with .dbx extension. Each file should have the name of your mail folders. Point the wizard to this folder, not each individual file. In the next window, select all mail folders you want to import.

Sit back and watch your messages transfer over. Oh, yea. You'll probably have time for a cup of coffee. Or two.
If you still have problems, let me know.

Hi folks,
I have been checking out autoarchive for Outlook 97, I am about to implement it for the users in my network, if possible could somebody either post me a simple guide on how to set this up efficiently, or even better an alternative way of backing up users Email.
Thanks.
