Hi Everyone;

I just back and sent an email to a different part of Tek-Tips and Davidtoo asked me to post it here if I can't find any info in this forum. Problem is one of our employees locks up everytime she goes into Outlook for incoming email. We tried repairing it and reinstalling and reinserting the pst file. When it does come up there is amessaging saying the pst file can't be accessed. The only way I can get Outlook working is dumping all the pst files and start over. The only problem is she has lost everything. The MS office 2000 pro is a single user connected directly to the internet. No Outlook Server is used. Any Tips?

Thanks Ray

Can she try on a different machine?

Can a different user try on her machine?

Can you recreate a brand new profile for her, and try from there?

That would narrow down the possibilities, I would think... and possibly find a fix in the process.

Hi kjv1611;

We tried using a different machine with her address and importing the pst file. It comes in but when she tries to access one on of the emails she gets the inaccessable pst file message. On her machine it just locks up with no access at all. I'm just wondering if it is just a corrupt file. Thanks anyway. Any other suggestions you can think of I'd appricate it. Have a nice one.

Hmm, I just thought of something.

You say it gives the same problem on a different machine, but under her login. Does she have access to the C: drive, more specifically to the folder where the PST file resides?

At our company, people do not by default have access to their C: drive, but we do not use local PST files, either, since we are using MS Exchange Server.

Hi kjv1611

We don't have ES, but I'm going to take your idea and use a different profile for her and try it out. I'll let you know. I'll try it on Friday when she's not at her machine. I'll let you know. Have a nice one.

Hope it works out.

The reason I was specifying ES as what we use here, is because it doesn't matter for the C: drive in that case, as there is NO pst file on the machines.

In your case, you have to use a PST file, so the person has to have access to it, I would imagine.

I just wanted to make sure you caught on to what I was hinting towards. [wink]
