Hi,
I just started as IT on a new company and they have about 30 brand new iMac dual core.
The problem I have is that I´m not familiar with Mac(yet) and there is one machine that is prompting the message that the MS License is being usesd by someone else. Now the machines where purchase from a local authoirize Mac dealer as well as the software, seems to me that someone by mistake installed someone elses license and there is 1 that remains unsed.
So the question is, where can I lookup the license number so I can check which is which against the boxes of the office?

Thanks a lot for any aport on this subject.

As far as I know, this will prove to be a huge annoyance.

Normally, to get teh info you want you just launch an app and go to the menu with the name of teh app and select About. You get the registered owner and license number if one is used.

At least on our copies of Office, you get the installation key number but that does not equal the product ID that comes up in About. I'm assuming the company didn't buy a multi user license.

You should be getting 2 users with the problem. Office mac checks for the similar numbers on a network, same as Adobe apps used to do. The 2 users should be showing the same product ID number in the About window. One will need a new install with a differnet activation key, but I have no way to know what key, in teh Office box, equals the product id.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Unlike windows, where you can get the activation code for the installed app, you are faced with the same problem I have. the only solution I have found is to uninstall the office suite and reinstall and track where each copy lives.
