MS Office 2000 (msiexec error on install attempt)

Each time I attempt to install MS Office 2000, I receive an: MSIEXEC ERROR.<br>
<br>
So far, I've done the following: From a 'Restart In DOS Mode' in the \windows\system directory, I renamed -<br>
msiexec.exe --&gt; msiexec.old<br>
msi.dll --&gt; msi.old<br>
msihnd.dll --&gt; msihnd.old<br>
(per Microsoft's Support Page)<br>

The PC is running Win98, 2nd release. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! ThanX!<br>
