Hi all,

I am in the process of creating a search in ASP, running on IIS 4.0. I am using Index Server to create a catalog (html pages, word docs, pdf docs). I'm struck a problem.

I'm having trouble knowing what fields to pull up, talking to the collection itself and generally overall stuck.

Does anyone have any sample search code they could send me so I can get familar with ASP / Index server. Or could you point me to some good code resources with the search in mind?

I am extremly familar with Cold Fusion and Spectra, and ASP is new to me now. Thrown in the deep end once again :-(

Thankyou for your help, I know many of you out there could help me out, much appreciated and thankyou for your time. kloner

It's been a few years since I worked with Index Server but my memory is that the installation of index server places sample catalog and search scripts on the hard drive. Have you looked at those. I remember them being very good, acutally, unusually good samples.

Pete is right. When you install IIS, there is a complete search example that uses search.htm, search.qxd, and search.htx. If you do a file search on your server for search.htx you can find what directory it's in.

Just a little note though, your search page can be search.asp or search.htm, but your results page (search.htx) will not process ASP code (it will process the server-side search code, which you can see for yourself). I found that out the hard way that none of my include files were there. I resorted to JavaScript to test for browsers instead of ASP. Harold Blackorby
