MS Imaging can't open JPEG file 1

Any idea why MS Imaging reports that a JPEG file format is invalid when I try to open it?
 
If with any JPEG, I would think of the codec-problems you have with movies sometimes. I never heard of such problems with JPEG though.

If with only 1 JPEG: it's a corrupt file or it has the wrong extension.

If this is happening to a user without admin rights, try this one

Run
regedt32
hkey_currrent_user\software\microsoft\shared tools\graphic filters

click on permissions
add everyone and give them full control
 
Try opening the file via Internet Exploder, er Explorer... If it's a no go, then u got a corrupt file on your hands.
 
The reason one jpg cannot be open in for example MS imaging is because not all jpg files are the same. You will probably find, however, that the jpg will open under MS Paint. This is due to some jpg files have internal coding that uses what is called arithmetic encoding. For more detailed info go to
