I just switched to a VOIP phone company. The phone works fine. But I had trouble sending out fax using MS Fax. The VOIP company told me to push # before dialing the number. But it still did not work.

I plugged in a real fax machine and was able to send out a fax.

Any suggestions? Should I try another fax software?

That's provided your provider supports T.38. They may use fax failback and use G711a/u for faxes, an unreliable method (I know we have loads running this way, a right pain in the rear).

Most people spend their time on the "urgent" rather than on the "important."

Thanks for the advices.

I installed FaxBack SIP T.38. But the installation configuration stopped at the screen "assign IP address to new audiocodes gateway", waiting for restting the gateway, even after I shut down the router and restarted it. I googled faxback and this might be caused by that the VOIP provider does not support T.38 relay, as Sympology suggested.
