If you have a company with MS Exchange(any version) and a user deletes mail from their mailbox permanently is this email details deleted permanently from the server also or is there a permananet master record kept on the mailserver of all emails sent and recieved?

In other words if an employee deletes their email as soon it is read can their employer's system administrator still access that mail message and view it from the server end?

Also is there a permanent cache of websites viewed stored on the server and therfore little point clearing your temporary internet files.

Just checking to see of my email and browsing are deleteable or not so my boss couldn't find out what I am emailing and to whom for example other job applications.

Any sites with info on this or advice would be much appreciated.

If you delete mail from within Outlook, depending on how your IS storage limits are configured on the server your data is not actually deleted. If you want to make sure it is permamnently deleted try this - when your deleted items bin is highlited, go up to tools and down to Recovered Deleted Items. Delete them from within there. This will get rid of them.

As for websites, that depends on other factors such as the firewall your using, any 3rd party software, so on. ISA Firewall keeps logs.

I would be very careful if you are going to do anything that deals with other jobs and such.

Vince.
