I have to files with fields that I need to compare. I want to take the date from one field in one file and compare it to another similar field in another file take any matches and output it to a different file or field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The format for reading data from one file, and using in another is as follows:

Where the other file is 'other.xls', the sheet is 'sheet1', and the cell you want to take the data from is a1:

=+'[other.xls]sheet1'!a1

Make sure to put all the punctuation marks as above.

Note - if you use a sheet with links to another file, you will automatically be prompted to update the links whenever you open your sheet. The other file does not need to be open to do this.

That helps some, but I still need to take two columns of Business names from separate files compare them and output any matches to another file

Thanks
