Somewhat complex 2013 Excel file is drawing on all RAM in order to function....and once loaded the computer is slowed down to an extreme level.

Cannot delete rows to reduce the file size as Excel crashes during this process.

The file was created in MS Excel 2010 6 months ago.

Any ideas on a cure or where one might to look for methods to adjust the file to remedy this issue ?

Hi,

Please explain further...

"Somewhat complex" what do you consider somewhat complex?

"to function" what function? Native features? VBA code? External links?

"Cannot delete rows to reduce the file size" How many columns and rows?

"The file was created in MS Excel 2010 6 months ago." Has it functioned since that date? Any recent changes? Do you have access to a recent version of this workbook?

You might consider a repair/reload.

Control Panel > Uninstall a Program -- has repair options.

About 950K is the size and 24 Rows... there are graphic images within the file. One only tab is in use.

There are external links in a few cells but I do not think they are active... unless you click on them to go to the file location they represent.

No VBA that I an aware of.... is there a way I can check to confirm ? I have run in Safe Mode but no improvement.

Just saw this from MS >
However, I cannot consider upgrading to a new OS / 64B or hardware change at this time.

Was hoping to find a way to alter the file to address this issue.... one only file gives me this problem.

Have you tried running it on a 64bit OS with, say, 16G or RAM or more?

Osprey,
With only 24 rows, what's "complex" about this file?
Is there any VBA involved, is this all in-cell work, and are there any conditional formats?

Any other links? Check graphics for web links if they were copied and pasted from internet. Check links/connections to external data sources ("DATA" ribbon), they may be an input for workbook data. If you can open it in excel 2016, check if any get& transform query exists (however, you should see them in connections).
Are there any hidden/veryhidden sheets?

There are external links in a few cells but I do not think they are active... unless you click on them to go to the file location they represent.
Do they point to existing workbooks? Make a copy of your file and remove links by hard data. Any change?
